About Blue Line

Built on generations of trust.

A true family utility legacy — carried from Dorsett Ditching into Blue Line Utility Group.

Serving Texas communities with expert services for decades.

Dorsett Ditching, for over fifty years, was a pillar of Central Texas utility work, with roots stretching back to the days when Tim Dorsett owned and operated Dorsett Ditching, Inc. with his brothers. Known for laying water lines and repairing countless leaks and main breaks, including during winter snowstorms, the company supported Creedmoor Maha WSC and many other utilities across Travis, Caldwell, and surrounding counties. Tim’s son, Dennis Dorsett, purchased the company around 1999, taking the helm as Dennis Dorsett Ditching and building it into a trusted name for projects of every size. Upon his retirement in 2024, the next generation carried the legacy forward: Dennis’s son, Skip Dorsett, launched Bird Dog Leak Detection with his wife, Caley, and their water-leak trained canine partner, Deeogee. Blake Dorsett founded his own company to continue providing the essential ditching and utility services of the original business.

Who shows up

The Blue Line team behind the work.

Blue Line is more than a name on a truck. It is the crew, equipment, and field experience customers see when real utility work needs to get done.

Licensed & experienced

Licensed water operators.

Blue Line Utility Group has licensed water operators on the team. Our operators have completed water-operator coursework, including TWUA training, passed TCEQ-required licensing exams, and maintain required continuing education so those licenses stay current.

Why it matters

Field work backed by operator knowledge.

That experience helps us understand what water systems are responsible for — from documentation and maintenance to compliance-focused preparation before inspections.
